SFSD Inclement Closure Plan for 2025-26 School Year
Weather Closure Plan for 2025-26 School Year
Dear SFSD Families,
In anticipation of winter weather and other extreme conditions, we want to share with you our district’s Weather Closure Plan for the 2025-26 school year. Please review the key details below so you know how closure decisions will be made and how you’ll be notified.
How Closure Decisions Are Made
The superintendent, in consultation with building principals, transportation, and grounds, will monitor forecasts and road conditions.
Decisions will aim to balance student safety, staff safety, and the feasibility of operations (transportation, heating, staffing).
Whenever possible, decisions will be made by 5:30 a.m. the same day.
If conditions worsen during the day, we reserve the option to release early; such decisions will be communicated immediately.
How You’ll Be Notified
If school is delayed or canceled:
ParentSquare alert — a push notification will be sent immediately.
District website & social media — updates posted on the homepage and district Facebook / Twitter.
Local media — radio and TV stations will be notified.
School-level messaging — your student’s school may also send a reminder or update.
Please make sure your contact information (phone, email) is up to date in ParentSquare.
Delay / Early Release Scenarios
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Our priority is the safety and well-being of your children. We will do our best to keep you informed in a timely way when weather threatens schedules.
Stay safe and warm this winter!
