ANNOUNCEMENTS

Thank you PTC!

A huge thank you to our amazing Parent Teacher Club for beautifying the front of the school this week. It looks great!

Back to School Nights

We invite you to join us for our annual Back to School Nights from 4:00-5:30 pm on Thursday, August 27th for 1st-5th graders and

Wednesday, September 2nd from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. for Kindergarten students.

This is an opportunity to visit your child’s classroom, introduce yourself to your child’s teacher, drop off school supplies and learn more about the plans for their classroom and the school. We hope to see you all there!

First Day of School Drop-Off

We invite families to come into the building and drop your student(s) off on their first day of school (August 31 for 1st-5th graders, and September 3 for Kindergartners). After the first day, we will start regular drop-off procedures in which all perimeter doors will be secured and families will not be permitted to walk their student(s) to class. To ensure school safety and to teach our students arrival procedures, we need to get these routines going on that second day.

School Start and End Times

Doors will be open each morning at 8:00 am.  Children are able to eat breakfast or go to morning recess at that time.  School will begin at 8:30 am and we expect all students to be in their seats and ready to go at this time.

Please do not drop your children off before 8:00 a.m. There is no supervision available.

Attention Kindergarten Families

THERE WILL BE NO KINDERGARTEN on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,  August 31st, September 1st, and 2nd. This time is set aside for assessment conferences. Our staff will be contacting families to schedule a meeting time.  Thursday, September 3rd --ALL Kindergarteners will come to school ALL day.

Please remember that all Kindergarten students must have at least ONE dose of each required immunization before being allowed to start school.  Please give this information to the office ASAP.  I have attached a list of the required immunizations for your reference.  Also, if your child is a new Kindergarten student and you did not attach your proof of residency or birth certificate to the online registration, please hand deliver or mail your paperwork to the office.

First Week Schedule for Incoming Kindergarten Students

  • August 31st and September 1st: Kindergarten assessment appointments throughout the day

  • September 2nd: Kindergarten-only Open House from 4:00–5:30 PM

    • Meet your teacher!

    • Bring your school supplies!

  • September 3rd: First day of kindergarten

Registration

Online registration for new and returning students is now open. Please be sure to enroll or re-enroll your student(s) as soon as possible so we are able to finalize class lists. Be sure to select the 2026-2027 school year when registering. Visit Silver Falls School District’s online registration page at https://silverfallsschools.org/online-registration for more information.

School Supplies

School supply lists can be found at this link: https://silverfallsschools.org/school-supply-lists  I have also attached a copy. Paper copies are also available in the office.

Medications

If your student needs to take medication at school, please be sure to fill out a Medication Authorization Form. These are available in the main office and will also be available at Back to School Night.

Food Services

Silver Falls School District’s Nutrition Services is pleased to announce that all students will CONTINUE to receive breakfast and lunch at no charge for the upcoming 2026-27 school year.

For more information regarding the SFSD Food Services Program and to print a copy of the September and future month menus please use the following link. https://silverfallsschools.org/food-services

Transportation

On Monday a transportation survey will go out via ParentSquare.  Please fill out this online survey so we know your child’s transportation plan for before and after school.  We need to hear from all families.  We are looking for more detail than what was asked for on the Online Registration.

The bus schedules will be posted on our district webpage at https://silverfallsschools.org/school-bus-routes soon. If you do not see an assignment for your child, please contact First Student at 503-874-6424.  Buses will line up in front of the school for both arrival and dismissal.

Staggered pick-up will begin on Tuesday, September 8.

Cars - We will be following a staggered pick-up.  We will be assigning each family/car pool a color -red, yellow, or blue.  Red is the 3:00 pm pickup time, yellow is for the 3:05 pm pickup, and blue is for the 3:10 pm pickup.  You will continue to use the same color all year.   If your child is a returning student, we will put him/her in the same color category as last year until we are otherwise notified by you.  If you are a new parent to RF, we will notify you of your color and pickup slot time.

Car riders will enter and dismiss through the north driveway – one-way traffic only.  Please keep traffic moving and stay in your vehicle. Staff will assist students to get in and out of your vehicle. If a student needs to be assisted into their carseat, please let staff know and they will direct you where to park.

After 8:25am, students can be dropped off in the front of the school (office doors) as the back door will be locked to allow for our teachers and instructional assistants on car duty to prepare for class.  Children will be counted tardy if they arrive in their classroom after 8:30am.

Communication

We will again be using ParentSquare for our emergency calling system this year; as well as for email communication from the district, school, and classroom. Once you are registered you should be added to Parent Square within 24 hours.  In order to receive this communication you must have  “contact allowed” as one of the options to check when you did your child’s online registration.  It is very important that we have your most updated phone number and email for this important school communication.   If you change your phone numbers or email address, please contact the office.

Parent Club

Please join our Parent Teacher Club (PTC)!  We have a great group of parents and staff that come together once a month (on the first Tuesday of each month from 7:00-8:00 pm) to collaborate and find ways to support our school in many ways. They help with homecoming floats, our jog-a-thon, read-a-thon, teacher and classified appreciation weeks and other fun school activities. Please see the attachment with the QR codes to join PTC communication groups.

The first meeting of the year will be on Tuesday, September 1st at 7:00 pm in the library. We greatly appreciate this group and what they do for us!

Class Lists

For 1st-5th graders, a postcard was mailed home this week with your student’s teacher for the 2026-2027 school year (with the exception of any new enrollments). Class lists were also posted on the front of the school doors at 4:00 pm today. Please come take a look!

Kindergarten students will be placed in classes once assessments have been completed the first week of school. Kindergarten classes will be announced on Wednesday, September 2nd..

Volunteering

We love our volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering at Robert Frost, or attending any field trips this year, please be sure to visit the SFSD website and complete your application and training. As a reminder, the training must be completed each year. Thank you for supporting Robert Frost!

Students are prohibited to use personal electronic devices-including cell phones, smart watches, and similar devices-during the regular school day. All student personal electronic devices must be turned off and stowed out of sight, in a backpack, starting at 8:00 am, until students leave school at 3:00 pm. If parents need to contact their student during the day for any reason, please contact the main office.

Water Bottles

The first couple of weeks of school tend to be pretty warm. Please remember to send a filled water bottle to school with your child.
