ANNOUNCEMENTS

Robert Frost Elementary Office Hours

Our office is open from 8:00 am-3:15 pm on school days. If you need to get in touch with our office, please call during office hours. You can always leave a message after hours.

If you have a change in dismissal plans for your student(s), please contact the office by 2:30 pm.

First Day of School Drop-Off

We invite families to come into the building and drop your student(s) off on their first day of school (August 31st for 1st-5th graders, and September 3rd for Kindergartners). After the first day, we will start regular drop-off procedures in which all perimeter doors will be secured and families will not be permitted to walk their student(s) to class. To ensure school safety and to teach our students arrival procedures, we need to get these routines going on that second day.

As a reminder, doors will be open each morning at 8:00 am.

There is NO before-school supervision available prior to 8:00. Children are able to eat breakfast or go to the morning recess at that time.  School will begin at 8:30 am and we expect all students to be in their seats and ready to go at this time.

First Week Kindergarten Schedule

THERE WILL BE NO KINDERGARTEN on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, August 31st , September 1st & 2nd. This time is set aside for assessment conferences. Our Kindergarten teachers sent out Parent Square messages this week to schedule your student’s assessment. If you have not scheduled your appointment yet, please do so. Thursday, September 3rd --ALL Kindergarteners will come to school ALL day.

On Wednesday, September 2nd, from 4:00 - 5:30 we will hold a Kindergarten-only Open House. Kindergarten families are invited to come to their student’s classroom, meet the teacher, and drop off school supplies. Families can also talk to Mr. Paul in the cafeteria, Mrs. Mattison in the library, and our Parent Teacher Club.

District Cell Phone and Smart Watch Ban Reminder

Students are prohibited to use personal electronic devices-including cell phones, smart watches, and similar devices-during the regular school day. All student personal electronic devices must be turned off and stowed out of sight, in a backpack, starting at 8:00 am, until students leave school at 3:00 pm. If parents need to contact their student during the day for any reason, please contact the main office @ (503) 873-5301..

Medications

If your student needs to take medication at school, please be sure to fill out a Medication Authorization Form. These are available in the main office.

Food Services

Breakfast and lunch will be free this school year for all students! You may view and print a copy of the September and future month menus here: https://silverfallsschools.org/food-services

Transportation

Please be sure to fill out the transportation survey that was sent out last week from Mrs. Main via  Parent Square. This information will help us plan dismissal for all students.

The bus schedules were posted on Parent Square and our district webpage again today at https://silverfallsschools.org/school-bus-routes.   All students that are currently registered for this year should be included.  If you do not see an assignment for your child, please contact Heather Johnson at  johnson_heather@silverfalls.k12.or.us or the First Student office at 503-874-6424. Buses will line up in front of the school for both arrival and dismissal.  Please leave the Bus Loading Zone clear during drop off and pick up times.

Staggered Pick-Up

If you will be picking up your student, we will be following a staggered pick-up.  We will be assigning each family/car pool a color -red, yellow, or blue.  Red is the 3:00 pm pickup time, yellow is for the 3:05 pm pickup, and blue is for the 3:10 pm pickup.  You will continue to use the same color all year.   If your child is a returning student, we will put him/her in the same color category as last year until we are otherwise notified by you.  If you are a new parent to RF, we will notify you of your color and pickup slot time.  Car riders will enter and dismiss through the north driveway – one-way traffic only.

After 8:25am, students can be dropped off in the front of the school (office doors) as the back door will be locked to allow for our teachers and instructional assistants on car duty to prepare for class.  Children will be counted tardy if they arrive in their classroom after 8:30am.

We love our volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering at Robert Frost, or attending any field trips this year, please be sure to visit the SFSD website and complete your application and training. As a reminder, the training must be completed each year. Thank you for supporting Robert Frost!
